Norway's Vinterriket have been around since 1996 and has put out numerous releases on various labels the world over. Vinterriket's music could be described as dark ambient and it is no surprise that his musical output is quite similar to (early) Mortiis and his related projects. Inspired by the dark side of Norwegian nature mainman CZ unleashed lenghty soundscapes of droning, minimalistic darkwave and ambient which includes samples of howling winds, rumbling thunder and crashing sea shores while hypnotizing, warm sounding synthesizer melodies wash over the listener as a gentle summer breeze. "Lichtschleier" is the more experimental of these two, remastered re-issues as it features occassional piano strokes. The dreamy synthesizer lines form a great contrast with the piano strokes as it provides the soundscapes with a juxtaposition of light and dark, warm and cold. This results in a mesmerizing experience for the listener, who is never forced to feel only one side of Vinterriket's rich musical pallette. The album was duly remastered at Strype Audio Studio (Zyklon) in Oslo, Norway by Tom Kvålsvoll and comes with fitting artwork that depicts various stunning sight of Norwegian nature.
