"Voices of omens" sounds exactly like its cover looks: dark, heavy, bloody and filthy. Mastodon and Today Is The Day getting stuck together, YOB (R.I.P.) in an arm-wrestling contest with early Neurosis, oh well, you get the point! And it’s pretty damn good too, which is especially due to the incredible Southern filthiness which is truly unheard of. Rwake succeeds to once again adds a different twist to modern sludge/core and that is a difficult thing to do nowadays. Apart from the twin solos and the pounding basdrums, there is plenty of room for clean "string-picking": just check out "Intro" or "Leviticus". This makes sure the record is very listenable, without sounding too slick for a second. Let's make it short; if you buy only one record per month, make sure it is this one.
