Soaking In Entrails, led by female bassist and drum programmer Janneke, is yet another addition to the already oversaturated market of NY styled slamming death/grind. Most notable influences are Mortician, Suffocation, Devourment and Internal Bleeding and the band does little to differentiate itself from their competitors. ‘Perpetual Human Atrocities’, ‘Meatcleaver Pathology’ and ‘Decomposing Cadaver’ are three cuts that are mainly mid-tempo grinding slabs that remind of early Mortician mainly. The guitar sound is meaty and overpowering, the vocals typical genre fare; low grunts intertwined with (horribly performed or recorded) high screams. The drum programming is above standard and variated enough for the genre. Given that the band enlist a (session) drummer, write some more interesting vocal lines, open up their compositions and add a few much needed tempo changes to their death/grind, they might be on to something mildly interesting in the nearby future. The logo is efficient, but the artwork is ugly and amateurish to say the least. As it stands now, Soaking In Entrails is a proficient, if not all too standard and unspectacular death/grind unit that abides to all known clichés inherit to the genre. This subgenre might be on the verge of collapsing in on itself.
