The long anticipated second album of these Swedes has finally arrived. And it was worth the wait. Fans of Nasum, Pig Destroyer and Disfear, wake up and smell the hummus! It's time to rejoice and wallow in the greased up grind these guys gave the grindcore community!
We get a kind of 'hello, we are ba-aack!' in the form of four blast songs before there is time to relax. In the fifth song, "tristesens fort", we get acquainted with the mid tempo variations Gadget seems to have put in this record on numerous occasions. What a great killer riff in this passage man! They are more than the supersonic blast bits we get to inhale or the furious riffs we get to digest! So "The funeral march" is indeed a very varied CD, with a slow down towards the end of the CD. A slow down much appreciated and welcome. It clearly shows that Gadget is not just about mindless beating of drums or snares, but they have channelled their anger in focus, speed and precision of some of the darkest riffs available to human conception. A strong and very dynamic release! Throw in a super production and you do have another classic. The CD is supported by an European tour. If they succeed to get half the energy across on stage, I will be a happy and very satisfied man.
