On their first ever live DVD low-tuned US death metal institution Obituary presents a great overview of their long and storied career. The show – which was filmed on August 24 at the Stodola Club in Warsaw, Poland with seven cameras, no less - contains all the classics ('Chopped in Half', 'Internal Bleeding', 'Dying', 'Turned Inside Out', 'Find the Arise', 'Slowly we Rot,' etc) as well as more recent material in tracks like 'Threatening Skies', 'Insane', 'Back From the Dead', 'On the Floor', 'Solid State', etc. The band's performance is highly charged, flawlessly executed and enthusiastic. The audience goes nuts through out and eats out of frontman John Tardy's hand. Besides a lengthy setlist this DVD includes a number of interesting extras. There's an interview with bassist Frank Watkins and guitarist Trevor Peres. Another interview with vocalist John Tardy and drummer Donald Tardy, 3 documentaries: making-of the 'Insane' video clip, making-of the "Frozen In Time" album and a featurette "Backstage in Poland". Included also are the promo videos for 'Insane' and the previously unreleased video for 'On the Floor' – both off the band's latest "Frozen In Time" album, with the latter making its world premier. Why the promo videos for 'The End Complete' (of the 1992 record of the same name) and 'Don't Care' (of 1994's "World Demise") weren't included is anyone's guess. Obituary proves that classic, groovy US death metal is far from dead and "Frozen Alive" is without a single doubt one of the best DVDs a fan of this genre could wish for.
