For a band hailing from Italy T.E.R sounds surprisingly like Monstrosity or early Vader. The three tracks on this self-financed promo aren’t going to win any price for originality. They are, at least, well-composed and decently performed thrashing old school Florida-like death metal. ‘the Holy Sin’ reminds me a lot of Monstrosity as it seems to build around the drumming. ‘Freedom to Decide’ and ‘Metastasis’ both remind me of “The Ultimate Incantation” era Vader without going into blasting overdrive. The production courtesy of Terror Studio, Italy is quite okay given the budgetary constraints. The guitar sounds is quite Swedish sounding and should be a little more prominent in the mix. The drum production is quite good, with a distinct difference between snare, cymbals and bass drums. Vocally, T.E.R is what you expect of a band in this genre – a grunt dominates while occasionally there’s some interaction and interplay with black metal like rasps. It’s nothing you haven’t heard before, but it gets the job done. Additionally, there’s a decent lead in ‘Metastasis’ and the groove this bands has going for them is refreshing to hear. There’s no artwork to speak of, just plainly a red band logo and the album title. I hope they’ll bother to get cover art next time around. If you like old school death metal in vein of early Monstrosity and Vader, you’ll have no problem liking this record.
