Recorded at the Hansen Studios in Denmark, mixed at Studio Fredman in Sweden by Fredrik Nordström and Patrick Jerksten. Mastering was done at the Mastering Room in Sweden by Göran Finnberg – Axamenta left nothing to the imagination and with "Ever-Arch-I-Tech-Ture" they might just have released the most impressive dark metal record of modern times. With an intricate conceptual story behind its record, the album is divided into 3 chapters which all have their own atmosphere. Starting from a foundation of melodic, keyboard driven black metal the band heavily add influences from the progressive and traditional heavy metal genre with as absolute highlight an appearance by Pain Of Salvation's Daniel Gildenlöw on 'Threnody For an Endling'. To this Axamenta add a multi-layered tapestry of almost soundtrack-like orchestrations and delicate piano pieces which remind me somewhat of a thing Emperor or Limbonic Art would deliver. The production is crisp, open-ended, bone-heavy yet incredibly rich in depth, texture and detail. Axamenta throw in a multitude of vocals and vocal harmonies ranging all spectrums of the extreme metal genre. Artwork fits in with conceptual story and it is very lush at that, this record is somewhat of a benchmark for the Shiver label in many ways than those that meet the eye. With an appropriate touring cycle in support of this record Axamenta might very well become the next big thing in this genre. With luminary genre greats such as Luciferion and Theory In Practice both on indefinite hiatus, Axamenta might very well be a worthy substitute. Highly recommended for those that craves well-written, expertly performed, conceptually driven dark metal with a highly progressive edge.
