    Reticulated ()

Wydane przez Brutal BandsRok wydania Kraj BelgiumNapisał Wouter8Komentarze (0)Emeth - ReticulatedBelgian technical death metal formation Emeth returns with their second album two years after their acclaimed debut "Insidious". "Reticulated" is definitely a transition record on a number of ways. Where "Insidious" from time to time was a bit overbearing in its unrelenting blasting, this record sees Emeth balancing out their respective strengths better over the course of the album. Vocally, the band introduced a more natural straightforward hardcore shout/screams somewhat down the alley of The Dillinger Escape Plan or Machine Head instead of the monotonous grunting of their debut. With the addition of a bassist and second guitarist the compositions have opened up more, allowing a more natural flow to surface despite the band's over-the-top nature in both speed as technique. The tracks this time around contain more breaks, multiple tempo-changes and eerie mid-tempo sections that accentuate Emeth's faster outbursts. Recorded at Excess Studios and produced by Daniel Bergstrand (Dimmu Borgir, In Flames) at the Cutting Room in Sweden "Reticulated" is the best sounding Emeth record so far. Artwork was once again done by Dirge Design, who deliver another high quality rendering as expected. On the level of production values and delivery Emeth can easily compete with that other Belgian brutal death combo Aborted. Where "Insidious" fell a bit flat on the level of composition this record sees Emeth already taking names in the international scene, despite only being two albums deep into their career. "Reticulated" might very well become the benchmark of this genre for others to live up to. Hands down the most impressive record I heard in a long time.
