The God That Never Was ()

3 years have passed since Dismember's come-back album "Where Ironcrosses Grow" hit the shelves. Consistent as always these Swedes offer up no novelties on this new - their 7th overall - record and their classic sound thus remains intact. As on "Where Ironcrosses Grow" the artwork was done by the legendary Dan Seagrave (Suffocation, Malevolent Creation, etc). Through the years Dismember might have adopted a bit more Iron Maiden influences in their guitar work, but the Autopsy vibe has never left their unique sound. While the guitar sound might need some slight adjustment from veteran listeners, once the massive sound kicks in - it's abundantly clear that Dismember are to their old self once more. 'Autopsy', 'Feel the Darkness', 'Time Heals Nothing' are just a few classic examples of Dismember at their finest: raw, filthy and destructive. It's fairly unbelievable how little time has changed these Swedes. As always with Dismember, the ancient feeling prevails and it's like 1990 never passed. Another rock solid release from Sweden's finest and most long-running death metal export.
