    Mincer ()

Wydane przez Displeased RecordsRok wydania Kraj BelgiumNapisał Wouter8Komentarze (0)Agathocles - MincerOn their first full length in 5 years Belgian political grindcore trio Agathocles find the perfect balance between their material of the '80s and their more recent outputs. "Mincer" is another slab of politically charged grindcore that hearkens back to the early days of the genre. Over the 21 tracks of the record Agathocles protests against many relevant subjects of today's consumer society while remaining vastly rooted in their underground nature. Never outstanding in technique, Agathocles derives its percussive power through sheer primitive savagery with well-placed power chords and drop-dead simple riffing. The songs are built around similar structures of introduction-verse-chorus-new riff-fill. While the songwriting is nothing spectacular at the core, it's able to drive home whatever point the band is trying to make. Recorded at Soundshape Studios (Last Days Of Humanity, Suppository) "Mincer" has somewhat of a typical production for this genre. All instruments can be heard clearly and the guitar sound is nicely thick, while the drums might be a bit too upfront in the overall mix. The artwork, done by the band themselves, is definitely old school and very abstract at that. This is old school grindcore at its finest. Fans of early Napalm Death, Terrorizer and Repulsion can blindly purchase this record. Displeased Records have done a good thing offering Agathocles a record deal.
