Originally released on Italian mini independent Pulsar Light Records, now - one year after its initial release - re-issued by resurrected Belgian metal label Shiver Records. Suhrim's second full length was already able to convince me that there's still hope for this band to find a label that can properly market, distribute and promote them. Since I already reviewed the album at its initial release, I'll concentrate on the upgrades this re-issue offers exclusive to this release. "The Cunt Collector" has improved a lot in sound, being entirely re-mixed and re-mastered at the acclaimed CCR Studios (Aborted, In-Quest, Leng Tch'e). The dry guitar sound reminds a lot of those classic old school Swedish death metal albums, in particular the ones from Sunlight Studios/Tomas Skogsberg. Artwork is still incredibly primitive, crude and underdeveloped, why the label didn't upgrade it along the way is beyond me. I suggest Suhrim to hire the guy who did the Headmeat artworks next time around, since it fits their genre. Surprisingly, 'Fist Fucked In the Throat' is still misspelled in this upgraded version, same goes for the text printed on the cd itself. My promo didn't come with any lyric sheet, but given these prior flaws, I wouldn't be all surprised to see some fuck-ups left unaltered in that department as well. Since the original release the band has undergone some more line-up changes, hence that (according to the label's information) the booklet correctly mentions the recording - and current line-up. All in all, I can't say that I'm truly fond of this re-issue as it stands today. Despite being entirely re-mixed and re-mastered there are still too many flaws on this album for me to take this band serious. Quality control apparently isn't a priority for the resurrected Shiver Records. Somehow I hope this is a fluke and their future releases will not suffer from similar mishaps.
