After an industrial intro 'Tyrants Forever' kicks off and Emptiness' affiliation to "Dawn Of Possession" era Immolation shines immediately through. Dissonant riffing, monolithic structures and varied drumwork are omnipresent. 'Unleash the Emptiness' is rather straightforward, while 'Tenebrium Prophecies' definitely has an Incantation feeling. The guitar lead only serves to intensify the oppressive atmosphere. 'Subhuman Submission' - featuring Enthroned vocalist Sabathan - is a re-recorded cut from their "Necrorgy" demo, which features an Oriental, almost (later) Behemoth like guitar lead. 'None Existence' and 'Age Of Nothing' both are epic mid tempo pieces featuring some interesting guitar - and drumwork. 'Fucked By the Beast' on the other hand reminds of early Morbid Angel and features a small bass solo. With only two demo recordings prior to this album Emptiness have delivered a competent record that only suffers from two things. First of all, the production is solid underground. While not muffled, it isn't exactly crystal clear either. This might put off some people to a certain degree. Next time around consider recording in a professional recording studio. Second, with its 17 tracks it might be a bit overlong and redundancy in songwriting shows its ugly head in some places. The ambient pieces are definitely a keeper. If Emptiness manages to integrate these into their songs (the way Nile do with their Egyptian soundscapes) they should be able to write some truly memorable death metal epics in the future. Artwork is a black-white baroque painting, pretty much reminding a lot of underground black metal, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Overall, a strong record that still is a bit too much rooted in its underground origins. Nevertheless, this is impressive stuff that is highly advised to Incantation and Immolation devotees.
