Produced by Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal) the album comes with solid production values which greatly help carrying the material to the next level. People who liked the band's previous outings "Supreme Knowledge Domain" and "Chaotic Matrix" will not be disappointed by this album. Concept-wise Internal Suffering does what Dutch death metal outfit Centurian did years prior with "Choronzonic Chaos Gods" and their critically acclaimed masterpiece "Liber ZarZax" - the Chaos concept is therefore no novelty to death metal. Opening the album is the title track which sets the standard for the rest of the album: unrelenting blasting brutal death metal with deep guttural vocals, which occasionally slows down for a break, a groove part or a small guitar lead. Biggest difference is that Internal Suffering includes more little breaks and mid tempo pieces in their tracks, building somewhat variation - although these are compensated by the all dominating jaw dropping blasting parts. This is perhaps where my major complaint with this album lies. With blastbeats all over the place not one track is able to stay with me 2 seconds after it faded out. A track as 'Summon the Gods Of Chaos' prove that Internal Suffering can write a semi-slow track perfectly, the mid tempo opening section is just fantastic, which is consolidated later as the band slows down multiple times within this cut. 'Baphomet Invocation' sees the band taking a similar course, opting for a more varied whole: multiple breaks, groovy mid tempo parts, etc. Vocally the album isn't all that interesting, as the vocal lines are standard death metal fare. A bit more vocal variety would be in place here. Although this album is full of high class musicianship and of an impressive technical level it just isn't memorable in the classic death metal sense. As stated earlier, people who enjoyed Internal Suffering's prior releases will eat this up like pap. Mandatory buying for blasting brutal death metal fanatics.
