Prior to releasing a new album in April 2005 the fine people of Displeased Records have compiled Manegarm's early cult demo's and given them a proper worldwide release. With a total of 9 tracks - containing both '96's "Vargaresa" and '97's "Ur Nattvindar" demos Manegarm's past is beautifully set out. Although essentially primitive in nature the tracks on both demo's display an inspired piece of traditional black metal as only Scandinavians can produce. This album comes with a few unreleased tracks as well as tracks that later would become classics - here preserved in their raw, primal form. Both song and productionwise Manegarm has a lot in common with all those Scandinavian black metal released through No Fashion Records at roughly the same time. Both demo's come with their original artwork, while new cover artwork has been provided by Belgian genre artist Kris Verwimp (Absu, Marduk, Enthroned, Sathanas, etc) which is pretty much what we are used of him. I have to admit that I'm not familiar with Manegarm's later body of work, but this however is an indication of the quality that this band houses.
