Anathema - "A fine day to exit"
2001 / cd
Music for Nations
UK
Anathema is one of those bands which one either loves or hates. Since "The crestfallen" 'ep they have been surprising us with new ideas, new sounds and along with some other well known bands from the UK they were shaping the death/doom metal we listen to nowadays.
Anathema stands for evolution, changes in the style and for exploring new paths in music, new ways of expressing feelings, emotions. We love this band for what they have done, for their constant development, awsome ideas and we hate it for straying away from what they have done on "Serenades" or "Pentecost III".
Personally I think that one can not do the same music on every record just to please the fans. A band has to go forward and has to broaden their views, look for new alleys in music. Some understand it, some do not. It is that simple. Black or white. No gray between it.
Anathema's "A fine day to exit" is a new step ahead. This album goes deeper into maze of melancholy, sadness and poetic playing. This album is surely a continuation of two previous CDs and a hugde step towards rock and progressive style.
"A fine day to exit" will be your remedy for noise and chaos of everyday life. So if this is what you have been looking for just say "Bingo" and go to the nearest music store.
