On their second album Belgian occult death metallers Emptiness confidently march forth in the direction of their Painkiller Records debut “Guilty to Exist”. Featuring current and former members of Enthroned, it comes as no surprise that the influences are heavily in the old school category. Incantation, roughly around their “Onward to Golgotha” and “Diabolical Conquest” era is the primary influence with a dose of (early) Immolation for good measure. Their assault is raw, primitive and melodic in an unconventional and untraditional sense. There’s an oppressive atmosphere present that most modern day death metal albums miss and the massive sound adds to the overall authenticity of this genre practice. In comparison to their first album the overall musicianship has evolved and the songwriting craft is also better. The only remark is the rather bland and characterless vocals. Monotony is inevitable and a more interesting choice in vocal lines would benefit this band. Counting twelve tracks and clocking nearly 40 minutes “Oblivion” never outstays its welcome. As with their previous record “Guilty to Exist” this record is graced with another exceptional black-white painting and the complementary artwork follows suit. The production is massive and retains enough underground grittiness to appeal to the band’s underground fanbase. Not revolutionary in any sense of the word, but a solid and thoroughly convincing occult death metal record.

...co do saksofonu to był to przypadek całkowity. Bo idąc coś zjeść do miasta napotkaliśmy kolesia który na ulicy grał na saksofonie. Zagadałem do niego żeby nagrał nam jakieś partie i zgodził się. Oczywiście nie miał pojęcia na co się porwał, do tego komunikacja nie była najlepsza, bo okazał się być obywatelem Ukrainy i język polski nie był dobry albo w ogóle go nie było...
