Disfigured Dead

Wouter Roemers
Death metal is such a limitless genre. You can do whatever you'd like. It can be over the top technical or slow. Brutal or insane and it's all so good. When we made "Visions of Death" it just came out with a natural old school-ish vibe and that's great, but our newer material has a much more modern technical vibe. I love how death metal has evolved.

Graveyard

For me, death metal should be heavy as fuck, brutal (which doesn't necessarily mean "fast"), atmospheric and evil. If the "evil" thing is not there, you can't label yourself death metal, that's a fact. I'm so fucking close minded when it comes to metal music... I listen to the SAME hard rock, heavy, thrash, doom, death and black metal that I used to listen to 15 years ago.
  • Rev 16:8 - "Grand Tidal Rave" (Sweden)

Temple Of Darkness Records/Plastic Head Distribution/Code 7 Distribution
Rev 16:8 are a Stockholm, Sweden-based black metal supergroup consisting of IXXI, Finntroll and Bloodshed members. At one point featured Paul "Themgoroth" Mäkitalo (ex-Dark Funeral, ex-Infernal) on vocals. Closest comparisons are Marduk, Dark Funeral, Setherial and Thy Primordial. The tempo is unrelenting, but the typical Swedish melodies make most material easily identifiable. The vocals of Tommy "Talon" Åberg sit somewhere between Erik "Legion" Hagstedt (ex-Marduk, Devian) and Ihsahn's early work with Emperor. The drumming of Patrik "Pata" Frögéli is impressive, as he easily switches between relentless blasting and more serene mid tempo sections while keeping rhythmically interesting. The interplay between fast blasting and grimy doom sections also adds greatly to the atmosphere of darkness and desolation. "Grand Tidal Rave" was pre-produced and recorded by Nefastus (guitars) in Stockholm. Mixed and mastered at Necromorbus Studio by Sverker Widgren. The splendid artwork, design and lay-out are reminiscent of Marduk's "Plague Angel" and Funeral Mist's "Salvation". A split EP with Italian act Nefarium called "The Unholy Communion" is currently underway on Agonia Records. Rev 16:8 is truly one of the best and most convincing black metal acts to come out of Sweden in the last years.http://www.templeofdarknessrecords.comcomment itWouter 8
