Disfigured Dead

Wouter Roemers
Death metal is such a limitless genre. You can do whatever you'd like. It can be over the top technical or slow. Brutal or insane and it's all so good. When we made "Visions of Death" it just came out with a natural old school-ish vibe and that's great, but our newer material has a much more modern technical vibe. I love how death metal has evolved.

For me, death metal should be heavy as fuck, brutal (which doesn't necessarily mean "fast"), atmospheric and evil. If the "evil" thing is not there, you can't label yourself death metal, that's a fact. I'm so fucking close minded when it comes to metal music... I listen to the SAME hard rock, heavy, thrash, doom, death and black metal that I used to listen to 15 years ago.
  • Stridsmenn - "Stridsmenn" (Norway)

    Northern Silence Productions
Stridsmenn is the merging of Norwegian black metal entities Borgarholt and Austkrigar into one potent whole to ensure its creator Peder “Arnjeir” Johnsen with enough creative freedom to fully embrace his songwriting potential. “Stridsmenn” contains Norwegian black metal like Strid, (early) Enslaved, Taake, Nasheim and (early) Dimmu Borgir with influences from Norwegian folk music. Like the earliest releases of Dimmu Borgir and Enslaved, in particular, Stridsmenn focus on creating an oppressively dark atmosphere through out the use of moody midtempo black metal with indigenous melodies and instrumentation. The more folk oriented parts are Stridsmenn greatest strength and its thus no surprise that the focus lies on these. Alternating harsh black metal sections with more melodic acoustic parts Stridsmenn create an atmosphere of utter darkness and despair while remaining heroic and traditional through out. The production is a bit rough around the edges but definitely better than most underground acts of this kind. The artwork is a variation of the Norwegian flag. This is certainly a promising debut. http://www.northern-silence.decomment itWouter 7
